Great instrument, a true step down from the Clavinova.
I just recently purchased this piano from Best Buy and I must say that it is truly a marvel. My model number is the DGX-520 but it is exactly the same thing as the YPG-525, I am not sure why they have different model numbers, because I have seen pictures of both models and they look EXACTLY alike.
Anyway, this piano is one of the best that I have seen from Yamaha. And this is my third piano instrument from Yamaha. I started out with a small 43 key keyboard when I was just 7 years old and then got a bigger one that has 61 keys at the age of 12.
Now, at the age of 18, still continuing piano (as a hobby), I decided to purchase a new one. A full size 88-key digital electric piano, the Yamaha Portable Grand DGX-520 or YPG-525.
I have always looked at getting a piano from the Clavinova series, but lets face it, we all consider budgets here and some of us just want to not have to spend $3000 to $9000 on a digital piano.

Great Keyboard for the Price!
I am a long time Yamaha owner due to the quality of their products. For those interested in a Clavinova, please give this keyboard a look first. It's got a lot of the features that are found on the Calinovas, including the most important: Sound quality. This thing sounds amazing, especially the Sweet! and Live! instruments. I was completely blown away by the realism of the Live! Grand Piano voice. The Sweet! saxaphone and Growl sax are also worth mentioning. It has loads of built in features, including a music database which provides a basic accompaniment for various styles of music which you can play along with (it even automatically selects a lead instrument to match the style of music). It's very easy to play along with, and you can even record up to 5 songs into the built-in flash memory. For those just learning how to play, it features an excellent training program which shows the sheet music in real-time on the display. A music instructor is able to play a song, save it...
Great job Yamaha!!
The acoustic sounds that this keyboard produces are impressive. The grand piano, horns, guitars, and drums are excellent. The built-in songs demonstrate the sonic capabilities of the instrument very well. The keyboard touch response is adequate for all but lead-fisted pounders. The user interface is, for the most part, clear and easy to use with many short-cut procedures built-in. The display is bright, easy to read, and well organized. Of course, the built-in learning system, easy to use recorder, metronome, rhythm patterns, and accompaniments make this an excellent choice for beginning muscians. Yet, the acoustic sounds are good enough for even more advanced players and could easily be the perfect instrument for one-man-band type performers. The stereo speakers produces clean, spacious sound that gives the music a lifelike feel. Where this keyboard begins to fall short is for more experienced and technically astute players who would prefer to have more powerful and complex functions...

With an electric keyboard, though, one sacrifices the full tone the piano can provide and less range. Despite this, a keyboard is much cheaper than a grand piano and this is the reason many choose it for their entertainment. play piano
